A Stranger In A Strange Land
I've made it here to Dorchester in Seaside. So far, the wi-fi service is shaky and my connection from the hotel is tenuous. Hopefully it'll be better over at the Convention Center.
Everyone here has been very nice and no one has offered to suck out my soul. But its early yet.
I took a few minutes to introduce myself to Victoria Taft--who was gracious despite the fact that I've been (justifiably) hard on her. I also met Jason Williams--who I expect we'll be even harder on as the weeks progress.
But my big coup so far is shaking hands with Senator Gordon Smith. When I mentioned to him that I write for a progressive blog, he kept his smile glued on tight and said, "Progressive? That makes you doubly welcome here".
Uh..okay.
