Secretary of the Interior: Gordon Smith?

Today's resignation of Bush crony and corruption magnet Gail Norton leaves an Executive post with a vacancy.

Could our own Senator Gordon Smith be in line for the job?

Smith is from Oregon and serves on the Public Lands and Water and Power subcommittees. More moderate on environmental issues than the controversial Norton. His concern for the environment seems to stop at the Beltway as his family’s company is one of the worst polluters in Oregon. The company was slapped with the second largest environmental fine in state history and Oregon taxpayers had to pay $800,000 to clean up environmental damage caused by Smith’s company.

Looks like a perfect fit for a Bush enviornmental post.
