Flying Spaghetti Monster prophet visits Portland radio

Get down with your noodly self:

When he heard about the Kansas School Board’s decision to teach Intelligent Design alongside the Theory of Evolution, Bobby Henderson, much like anyone else with a brain, was mad. Henderson decided to express himself through the delicate art of satire. He drafted a letter to the school board demanding that, if Intelligent Design was going to be taught, the often ignored creation story of the Flying Spaghetti Monster should also be included in the curriculum. At the time, Bobby was an unemployed college graduate living in Corvallis. Since then, he has created an entire satirical movement around the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, for whom he claims to be the profit. Those who subscribe to the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, known as Pastafarians, see a direct link between global warming and the number of pirates in the world. Word of the Noodly Master has spread far and wide. I particularly enjoy this billboard from my own hometown.

This morning, the profit himself appeared on KBOO’s own Positively Revolting Talk Radio with Ani and Melodie.

I'm pretty sure this blog author meant to write "prophet" and not "profit"...homonyms notwithstanding. KBOO does kind of have an anti-capitalist thing. Maybe the fingers are just trained.

I'm bummed that I missed this interview. I have a great respect for people that can pull off brilliant satire. And the Flying Spaghetti Monster is a work of satirical genius.

Not to mention the rather "in your face" slam at people who shove their religious beliefs down the throats of others. That's a great way to start a Friday.
