PDX Pot Petition Turns In, 9K Over Threshhold
Just in from the Portland City Elections Office:
The needed number is 26,691, so they're running almost a 10,000 signature buffer. That means they can suffer no more than about a 25% failure rate on signatures. The City has 30 days to count and verify, and then we'll see if potheads really ARE smarter than the Portland Business Alliance!
Chief Petitioner Chris Iverson submitted 36,000 signatures for Petition ID No. PDX 5, "Makes Marijuana Offenses Lowest City Law Enforcement Priority, With Exceptions." The petition is sponsored by Chief Petitioners Chris Iverson and Madeline Martinez and is intended for the November 7, 2006 General Election Ballot.
