BREAKING: Rogue River teachers vote to end strike

Medford Mail Tribune:

Teachers vote to end strike Students in Rogue River will return to school next week after the teachers' union agreed this afternoon to a proposed employment contract.

Teachers voted 52-2 to approve the contract, a result of a meeting between union and the school board bargaining teams that lasted from 5 p.m. Wednesday until 2:30 this morning.

A union spokesman said today that the new deal enables the school board to cut six days from the school year but also sets out conditions that would restore those days.

The school board still must ratify the contract. It meets a week from today.

Teachers are scheduled to return to work Friday afternoon. Middle and high school students are to return Monday, and elementary students will return to class Tuesday after parent-teacher conferences Monday.
