Portland Drivers Most Courteous in US

As anybody else who has experienced local traffic in places like DC, Atlanta and LA can tell you, Portland doesn't know how good it has it when it comes to congestion and drivers. And now the Autovantage club has made it official:
Miami tops rude drivers list; nicest drivers in Portland, Oregon

MIAMI -- For the second straight year, rude Miami drivers have earned the city the title of worst road rage.

Details are in a new survey by AutoVantage, a Connecticut-based automobile membership club offering travel services and roadside assistance.

Other cities near the top of the rude drivers list were New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Washington.

The review found the most courteous drivers can be found in Portland, Oregon; Pittsburgh; the Seattle-Tacoma area; St. Louis and Dallas-Fort Worth.

The most frequent cause of road rage cited in the survey was impatient motorists.

More than 2,500 drivers who regularly commute in 25 major metro areas were asked to rate road rage and rude driving in telephone surveys between January and March.

The survey was conducted by Prince Market Research has a margin of error of plus or minus two percentage points.

Last is best, in this case. Either we're such masochists that we somehow remain calm amidst all the snarled traffic--or it's actually not that bad overall....
