Get your Initiative on!

Navigating the murky waters of the Oregon ballot initiative system is a task fraught with peril and danger. There be sharks and monsters a-plenty lurking about.

Tomorrow night, the good folks at The Bus Project will be hosting a panel discussion on the ballot initiative/measure process.

Where: Acme Food & Drink, SE 8th & Main

When: 7:00-9:00 PM

Who: (from Alex at the Bus Project)

State Representative Mitch Greenlick, District 33; Mitch is leading the fight for the HOPE for Oregon Families initiative, which would make health care a fundamental right in Oregon.

Jo Ann Bowman, Executive Director of Oregon Action; Jo Ann is a former State Representative (District 19), and acted as Chief Petitioner on Ballot Measure 94 to repeal mandatory minimum sentencing.

Phil Keisling, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Heiperic, Inc.; Phil served as Oregon Secretary of State from 1991 to 1999, and in 2006 headed a push to create a system of open primary elections in Oregon. Phil also led and won the 1998 Measure 60 campaign for universal Vote-by-Mail.

Ted Blaszak, CEO of Democracy Resources; since founding Democracy Resources in 1999, Ted has worked to gather millions of signatures supporting many progressive issues nationwide.

This is a prime opportunity for citizens to take their initiative process BACK from the likes of out-of-state groups trying to infest Oregon politics and out-of-state pervs with a whacked out agenda.
